Super Smash Bows

This week I thought I'd talk about Towerfall which is fast paced,
addictive and tons of fun. It's relatively new on the psn store but it's been
out for close to a year on the Ouya, so all you die hard Ouya gamers know what
I'm talking about.
The game has both single and multiplayer modes but I highly
recommend the multiplayer as it supports up to four players and is definitely
the selling point of the game. The single player is more of a horde mode: each
stage has X amount of rounds and Y amount of enemies that come with it. There's
also a trial mode which is basically shoot the targets from Super Smash Bros.
Now if you've played Smash Bros, this is definitely a game you should look into!
The creators were inspired by both Smash Bros and GoldenEye—it really shows in
the gameplay and overall feel of the game.
The games mechanics are simple: the player control's a character and its bow with the right and left analog sticks and may jump and fire with the X and O buttons, respectively. You can perform your standard wall jumps and the triggers allow you to perform a dash. Any projectiles that hit you while dashing are picked up and added to your quiver, along with any arrows you can grab off of the terrain.

The game is definitely quick to master, which is awesome, 'cause no one feels like there's an unfair advantage. There are "special arrows" hidden in chests all over the map, which are essentially power up's—this is where I feel the GoldenEye influence comes in. Each of them has a unique effect, fire differently and they all add some depth to the game while still being fun to use. If all else fails, in classic Mario fashion, you can stomp on people's heads when your quiver runs dry. It also has a replay function, so you can always check out that across-the-map snipe you pulled off or who killed who during all the chaos.
I knew that Sony had a bunch of indie titles lined up for the PS4 to keep gamers happy and I was skeptical about buying one so close to launch, but so far I've been pleasantly surprised and this game is definitely selling me on it...now if only they could patch in online play, it would be perfect. I definitely recommend Towerfall to any PS4 owner: the graphics are a revamped 8-bit style and the music is catchy yet epic, it always seems to fit the moment.
All in all, it's an exciting and fun party game and I guarantee it will hold your attention for hours on end—whether it's an endless death match or speeding through time trials.
